A CRITIQUE OF THE POWERS OF THE PRESIDENT/MINISTER OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES UNDER SECTION 63(3) OF THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY ACT, 2021: INTERROGATING THE RECENT REMOVAL OF APPOINTED BOARD CHAIRMAN OF NNPC LIMITED
By: Michael T.A Damiari
In February 2022, I wrote an article titled – ‘A CRITIQUE OF THE POWERS OF THE PRESIDENT/MINISTER OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES UNDER SECTION 63(3) OF THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY ACT, 2021: INTERROGATING THE RECENT REMOVAL OF APPOINTED BOARD CHAIRMAN OF NNPC LIMITED’ where I
condemned the powers of the President to remove the Chairman of the Board of NNPC Ltd. The work argued that the removal by the President was in contravention of the provisions of Petroleum Industry Act 2021, Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, Articles of Association of NNPC Limited (Articles) and International best labour practices.
