THE EFFICIENCY OF ELECTRONIC DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEM BY THE NIGERIAN IMMIGRATION SERVICE

The Minister of Interior, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola in conjunction with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) made a public introduction of the Electronic Data Management System (EDMS) as part of its code of conduct guiding its officers. The expectant result of the introduction of the EDMS is to improve the efficiency of its workers who would display a high level of clarity, dedication and punctuality in their operations of service owing to the fact that their activities are online and every personnel detail would be easily accessible to superior officers electronically rather than the paper-based format the system is being known for. The essence of this is to monitor the activities of all officers and their assigned duties and the discharge of such duties professionally, and to also put them in check, in line with the code of conduct of the Nigerian Immigration Service.

It was also stated that only 44 percent of children are registered at birth, while millions of deaths are uncounted for each year.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved new license

CBN SETS N1M AS APPLICATION FEE FOR PAYMENT SERVICE HOLDING COMPANY LICENCE

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved new license categorizations for participants in the payments system. CBN in its circular released its guidelines for the establishment and regulation of Payments Service Holding Companies (PSHCs) in Nigeria. The guideline is expected to facilitate the regulatory requirement for the operations of a PSHC in the country.  The regulation requires companies that wish to operate more than one license category (within the Mobile Money Operations, Switching and Processing, Payment Solution Services ) to set up a Payments Service Holding Company (PSHC), while clearly separating the activities of the subsidiaries.
